Wade Michaelchuk is a PhD student in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Toronto. His research is focused on the use of technology to reduce sedentary behaviour and increase physical activity in people with lung disease. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree and a Master of Science in Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Alberta where he studied lung physiology during exercise. Wade has worked in various clinical research settings where he gained an appreciation for the role of physical activity in improving health outcomes for clinical populations. He decided to pursue a PhD in an effort to help contribute to the clinical care of individuals with lung disease and understand how commercially available technology can be used as a tool to reduce sedentary time and increase physical activity in this population.
