West Park Achieves Substantial Completion

EllisDon officially hands over the keys of the new hospital to West Park

Nov 6, 2023 - West Park Healthcare Centre’s new, advanced rehabilitation facility achieved Substantial Completion. The new hospital will usher in a new era of healthcare delivery for rehabilitative and complex care in Ontario. 

The construction milestone represents the date when the facility is operational and is officially handed-over from the contractor, EllisDon to West Park. Staff at West Park can now begin training, orientation and move-in preparations for opening day in Spring 2024.

Features of West Park’s new facility includes:

  • Six-storeys, approximately 730,000 square feet

  • 314 patient beds; 80 per cent single and 20 per cent double occupancy rooms

  • Advanced HVAC system that ensures 100 per cent fresh air is pumped in

  • Enhanced accessibility features in its architectural design, technology and equipment solutions

  • Integration of nature that creates a powerful new vision for healthcare architecture
