Oct. 10, 2019 - EllisDon was the recipient of multiple awards, including two awards for its work on West Park’s new hospital, at the Americas P3 Awards gala last week in New York City.

Referred to as P3, the public-private partnerships model facilitates the building of partnerships with private sector market to fund and build new publicly-owned infrastructure. The Ontario government has been using this model for almost two decades. In its latest market update, the province has listed 32 projects worth more $65 million in its future infrastructure pipeline.

Last year, EllisDon was awarded the contract to design, build, finance, and maintain (DBFM) West Park’s new facility that would meet the healthcare needs of an aging population. The public-private partnership is between West Park and EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare, a consortium of private sector companies with EllisDon as the developer, contractor, and facilities maintenance provider.

"Congratulations to the EllisDon team for this deserving achievement," says Shelley Ditty, Vice-President of Campus Development and Support Services at West Park. "EllisDon has a reputable and proven track record, and we're very pleased to have them on board to build our new hospital."

Now in its sixth year, the P3 Awards is one of the largest events recognizing and rewarding the best in public-private partnerships with significant emphasis on debt providers, financial structures, and advisors, in each of the awards categories. EllisDon was recognized in the following categories:

  • Best Social Infrastructure Project (Silver) - West Park Healthcare Centre

  • Best Financial Structure - Social Infrastructure (Silver) - West Park Healthcare Centre

  • Developer of the Year (Silver)

EllisDon was also praised by the panel judges for winning and closing eight P3 projects in 2018, including West Park’s project, that represented a cross-section of types (DBF, DBFM) and sectors (health, justice, transportation), and included first of its kind projects such as a high-rise courthouse, The New Toronto Courthouse.

"It is fantastic that EllisDon is getting international recognition for being the Canadian leader in P3s," says Joey Comeau, Chief Operating Officer & Executive VP, Capital Division. "We have been at the forefront of the industry for over 15 years and are now starting to export this knowledge to the US and beyond."
