Family Medicine

Dr. Peter Derkach is the Attending Physician on the Tuberculosis (TB) Service unit at West Park Healthcare Centre; the unit serves as a provincially designated treatment centre for difficult-to-treat cases of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections.  Dr. Peter Derkach specializes in Family Medicine, and has been a member of the medical staff for several years. He also serves as the Medical Director for West Park Long-Term Care Centre.

In additional to providing medical services, Dr. Derkach Co-Chair’s the Centre’s Supportive and Palliative Care Committee; the committee aims to advance palliative care services across the Centre with the help of a dedicated and committed multi-disciplinary team. He has also served in a number of medical leadership roles; most notably as the board appointed Chief of Staff/Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee for six (6) year, and the Deputy Chief of Staff between 2016-2018.

He has a lifelong passion for geriatrics, research/education and palliative care, and actively supports opportunities to advance the quality of medical practice through his travels to countries such as Nepal and the Ukraine.
