On July 1, 2020, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, issued a list of 123 remarkable Canadians who will be recognized for their excellence, courage or exceptional dedication to service.
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Warren Law, Past Chair of West Park Healthcare Centre’s Board of Directors and current Board Member is among those who will be recognized and has been selected as a recipient of the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers for supporting local healthcare initiatives, patient advocacy and the reduction of health inequities in Ontario.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the remarkable volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields. As an official Canadian honour, the Medal pays tribute to the dedication and exemplary commitment of volunteers.
Warren has been a dedicated volunteer Board Member at West Park since 2012, serving as ViceChair from 2014-2016 and Board Chair from 2016-2019. In addition to his responsibilities as ViceChair and Chair, Warren has assumed additional leadership roles in support of the Centre. He has led the Board’s nomination and recruitment process, provided governance leadership leading to the ground-breaking for West Park’s new hospital and Chaired an annual fundraiser in support of the West Park Foundation.
Outside of West Park, Warren has served as a volunteer Director and Vice-Chair of the Scarborough Hospital Board for six years, served as an Order-in Council appointee of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Public Health Agency, and is a long standing member of member of the Finance, Investment and Audit Committee of Canada Health Infoway.
Outside of the healthcare sector, Warren has volunteered his time to the Humber Valley Hockey Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Board of the Canadian National Exhibition.
