Take a tour of West Park

Accreditation Status

The CCHSA granted West Park a full three-year accreditation in January 2005 following a comprehensive evaluation of the centre's services and practices. This year's award, the latest in West Park's 50-year participation in the program, recognizes the centre's commitment to openness, accountability, innovation and excellence in care delivery.

"Accreditation by the CCHSA is consumers' assurance that an organization meets national standards. As a quality-minded health organization, West Park participates in this program as it is a vital part of our ongoing commitment to provide quality services that meet the needs of our community."

Barry Monaghan, West Park President and CEO

Performance Measurement and Improvement: Accreditation with the CCHSA

A testament to West Park's accountability and commitment to quality.

As an organization committed to ongoing performance measurement and improvement, West Park participates in the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation's (CCHSA) voluntary accreditation program. Through this program, participating hospitals review their services against national care standards to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Accreditation is considered an important part of the organization's ongoing performance improvement process and includes:

  • an extensive self-assessment review by staff and physicians,
  • an on-site visit by CCHSA surveyors who review documentation and conduct a series of focus groups with patients and residents, staff and community partners.

The agency bases its decision to award accreditation on the findings gleaned from this process.
