Diagnostic Services: Sleep Laboratory for Physicians and Other Professionals

Our services are easily accessible within a reasonable waiting period. Appointments may be accelerated if the medical need is urgent.

How are sleep disorders diagnosed?

While patients sleep in one of four bedrooms at the Sleep Lab, technologists supervise the recording of several biological functions using state-of-the-art equipment. We report on the quality and distribution of sleep, heart rate, cardiac arrhythmias, breathing patterns, restless limb movements and gas exchange (O2, CO2). The results are analyzed by our sleep technologists and interpreted by our respirologist.

• four bedrooms, two of which can accommodate patients with electric wheelchairs, ventilators and mechanical lifts for transfers

• experience in the diagnosis and management of sleep-related disorders especially among patients with cardiac, respiratory or neuromuscular conditions

• state-of-the-art technology to provide high-quality sleep studies

• patient education provided by registered sleep technologists

• wheelchair accessible washroom and shower facilities

• one extra room to accommodate a loved one overnight (if required)

• services are covered by OHIP

• assurance of quality care validated by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA)
