West Park is here to serve
you and to help make the diagnosis.
West
Park's Sleep Laboratory is staffed by a qualified team of health
care professionals. Tests vary from simple screening to complete
respiratory polysomnographic studies that will assist your physician
or medical team in the assessment and management of your sleep
disorder.
How are sleep disorders diagnosed?
While patients sleep in one of four bedrooms at the Sleep Laboratory,
technologists supervise the recording of several biological functions
using state-of-the-art equipment. We report on the quality and
distribution of sleep, heart rate and rhythms, breathing patterns
and oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. The results are analyzed
by our sleep technologists and interpreted by our respirologist.
Sleep studies help pinpoint sleep problems, including those caused
by sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep). The results of the
sleep study are then shared with your physician or referring health
care professional, who will prescribe any treatment required or
refer you to our respirologist for consultation.
