Tecla Lin Fundraising Banquet

Honouring a West Park nursing hero

On February 28, 2008, West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation and West Park Healthcare Centre joined together to honour and celebrate its nursing heroes at the fourth annual Tecla Lin Chinese Banquet. The 2008 Tecla Lin Nursing Education Bursary recipient is Jane McNamee. Jane is a Care Coordinator on the Musculoskeletal rehabilitation service and has been at West Park for more than 5 years. With this bursary, Jane expects to be able to complete her Masters Degree this spring. Congratulations Jane!

The banquet celebrates the example set by the late West Park nurse Tecla Lin, whose passion for life-long learning and commitment to excellence continues to inspire others today. Tecla’s dedication to improvement through education and her willingness to give openly of herself to others also made her a nursing hero. A bursary in her name helps other West Park nurses also become heroes, and continues our tradition of nursing excellence which was recognized with the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) designation of West Park as one in seven Best Practice Spotlight Organizations in the province.

Proceeds from the event will be used to sustain the endowed fund that has granted bursaries in previous years to West Park registered nurses Shannon Burke, Maria Iwanski and Rosana Poon.

If you would like to help enhance the skills and knowledge of West Park Healthcare Centre nurses and support the legacy of Tecla Lin, a beloved nursing hero, please donate online today.
