Our Campaign: Peter Gzowski Fund
Research: helping to improve quality of life
West Park has gained an international reputation as a leader in both respiratory medicine and rigorous, groundbreaking clinical research in respiratory rehabilitation.
- In 2002, respirology at West Park took
a significant step forward with the establishment of the National
Sanitarium Association (NSA) Chair in Respiratory Rehabilitation
Research, an academic appointment at the University of Toronto,
to ensure that the centre continues to be a leader in this field.
The Chair is permanently endowed and held by West Park Healthcare
Centre Foundation.
- Over the past 20 years, research conducted
by West Park's respiratory program has led to more than 50 articles
in peer-reviewed journals, as well as countless projects and presentations
at national and international conferences.
- Some of the funds from the Peter Gzowski Fund will be allocated to support research into COPD to help improve the quality of life of those living with the disease and their families.

Under the guidance of the centre'sClinical
Evaluation and Research Unit, West Park endeavours to contribute
new knowledge that leads to improved outcomes for patients and residents
- an integral component of our vision to be a leader in rehabilitation
and community living, complex continuing care and long-term care.
