The Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA) requires every health care organization to establish a Quality Committee that has responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Board of Directors on quality issues and on the overall quality of services provided.
There is a growing appreciation throughout the healthcare sector that the perspectives of patients and caregivers provide important insights to assist organizations in improving safety and quality outcomes.
We are seeking an individual to serve as volunteer member of the Quality Committee as the Patient Representative.
The term is for one (1) year term, renewable for a maximum of two subsequent terms.
The ideal candidate has been a patient at West Park within the past 2 years (but not a current patient), who has governance experience combined with a background in:
- Quality issues (from industry, education or another healthcare organization); and/or
- Health care, practice development, assessment of patient needs, patient safety, performance measurement or ethics; and/or
- Law, Education or Business and has worked in a professional capacity with physicians or in a health-related business.
The Quality Committee meets five (5) times between September and June. Total time commitment would be ten (10) hours per year for meetings plus the time required for pre-reading meeting materials.
