Qualifications
  • Successful completion of B.Sc. Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • Experience with a broad base knowledge in MSK, CVA, neuro, strokes, general surgery
  • Experience and interest working with a Geriatric population
  • ADP Authorizer preferred
  • Experience with EPR documentation
  • Ability to function well in a multidisciplinary team setting while working in a fast paced environment
  • Effective professional judgment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients/clients, their families, and all levels of staff to work in a transdisciplinary team
  • Availability to work a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to demonstrate a customer service philosophy
  • Ability to function in a consult model
  • Self-directed, seeks guidance as required
  • Able to be on call by pager for occasional weekend coverage

Responsibilities
  • Perform client assessments/consultations to identify clinical problems and client goals
  • Provide education to patients, their families, and team members.
  • Provide education to internal and external audiences where appropriate. (e.g. National Physiotherapy Month).
  • Complete timely and thorough clinical documentation in compliance with the regulatory requirements of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Provide clinical supervision/training for students/residents
  • Provide occasional coverage for Tuberculosis Services as required
  • Assign, supervise, and train Rehabilitation Assistants to ensure safe and appropriate treatment.
  • Participate in transdisciplinary rounds.
  • Participate in service planning.
  • Provide data for Government and Centre information systems related to outcome measures and clinical/patient workload (CWM, NRS, MDS).
  • Incorporate best practice/evidence - based physiotherapy.
  • Pursue continuous professional development, which includes active participation in the Physiotherapy Professional Standards and Issues Committee.
  • Participate in in-service education
  • Participate in team and centre- wide committees
