  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • BScN preferred
  • Current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BCLS) required
  • Physical assessment course completed within the last 5 years or be committed to enrolling in a physical assessment cures at a recognized community college 6 months from date of hire or as assessed as required
  • Experience working with amputee and/or neurological rehabilitation patients is an asset
  • Amputee rehabilitation, dialysis and diabetes experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience with demonstrated education and knowledge of rehabilitation concepts and practice
  • Capable of independent decision-making with regard to implementing nursing specific treatments
  • Excellent assessment and clinical skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Good knowledge of computer technology
  • Demonstrated skill in providing patient/resident focused care
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including creative problem solving, sound judgement and organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated skill in reflective practice
  • Effective communication skills including conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build collaborative and therapeutic interpersonal relationships are required-as are proven skills in successful communication and conflict resolution.

    Please note:
  • The Amputee Rehabilitation Unit is a busy unit that provides an opportunity for nurses to see patients make significant gains in independence and daily functioning. You will be part of a skilled multidisciplinary team working collaboratively towards effective rehabilitation care
  • Nurses on this unit are encouraged to participate in special projects (e.g. Falls Research, Resource Nurse Role Development and Clinical/Administrative Fellowship) so an interest in research, developing new skills as well as a spirit of inquiry is an asset
