Orientation
West Park provides a mandatory two-day Corporate Wide Orientation to all staff followed by a unit/department specific orientation.
Rewards & recognition
- Long Service Awards – Achieving long service is a testament to the commitment and loyalty of our people. As such, long-time employees and physicians celebrating their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th or 25th year at West Park receive special recognition at our annual Long Service Awards Celebration
- Staff Appreciation Program – West Park fosters a culture of staff recognition for outstanding performance, productivity, innovation, customer service and special project efforts. Staff appreciation awards provide staff with the opportunity to recognize peers for their accomplishments on a timely basis.
Education

A teaching facility
Affiliated with post-secondary institutions such as the University
of Toronto, West Park is committed to training tomorrow’s
health care professionals. Professionally supervised student training
and education opportunities exist in nursing, respiratory and rehabilitative
medicine, respiratory therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy,
speech language pathology, recreation therapy, pharmacy and health
administration.

At West Park, we recognize occupational health and safety as vital to fulfilling our mission. This is part of a larger commitment by the centre's management to provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone through a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Program.
West Park’s campus boasts a welcoming environment
for staff, as well as patients and residents. The centre is surrounded
by an award-winning
landscape, with tree-lined walkways, accessible patios and gardens,
rooftop terraces and manicured lawns. The centre also has a business
casual dress code policy for staff, helping to make the environment
less formal for patients, residents and their families.

Health and medical benefits
West Park provides a comprehensive benefits program to all eligible

Employee Assistance Program
Believing that its people are its greatest asset, West Park Healthcare Centre is committed to the physical and emotional well-being of its employees. To assist staff in times of crisis and stress, we have retained an outside firm to provide voluntary, confidential counselling services to staff and their immediate family. Professional counsellors offer assistance in a wide variety of areas.
Information and a voice
West Park is committed to open communication with its employees. A monthly newsletter and intranet site provide regular communication for physicians, staff and volunteers. Other programs, such as our bi-monthly Town Hall and Breakfast with the CEO initiatives, provide an opportunity for any staff member to discuss topics of interest to them with their peers and members of the management team.
